Swedish Restaurant / Musashino City “ALLT GOTT”

Cheers with pickled herring and aquavit! A Swedish restaurant where you can fully enjoy the Nordic atmosphere.

Along Taisho-dori street, just past the lively shopping areas and arcades from the North Exit of JR and Keio Inokashira Line’s Kichijoji Station, there’s a charming area known as Hokuo-dori Street, lined with casual Nordic-themed shops, cafes, and furniture stores.

In one corner of this area, you’ll find the Swedish restaurant ALLT GOTT, marked by a sign featuring a sailing ship and the Swedish flag.

The owner-chef, Takashi Yaguchi, is a native of Mitaka City who has dedicated himself to Swedish cuisine since his twenties. With deep knowledge of Nordic food culture, he runs the restaurant alongside his wife, Rika Yaguchi, who is in charge of the front-of-house service. The couple still travels to Scandinavia from time to time to experience local food and daily life firsthand. One of the restaurant’s charms is how they warmly introduce each dish, often sharing stories from their travels along with insights into Nordic history and culture.

Step through the glass door and head up to the second floor, and you’ll find yourself in a warm, inviting space accented with brick and wood. Just beyond, the counter is lined with a variety of Nordic spirits and wines. Surrounded by Nordic interior décor, the cozy dining area offers a total of 26 seats. From the open kitchen, the comforting sounds of cooking, the aroma of dishes being prepared, and the gentle exchange of orders all come together to create a welcoming atmosphere.

At lunchtime, there are two main course options:

Course A (¥2,420 tax included) includes an appetizer (choice of pickled herring or marinated salmon), salad, main dish, and coffee or tea.

Course B (¥3,300 tax included) builds on Course A with an appetizer and dessert platter, plus a soup.

For those who want to fully immerse themselves in the world of Swedish cuisine, there’s also the Chef’s Recommended “Hokuo-Mankitsu Course” (¥4,620 tax included, reservation required), offering a deeper taste of Nordic flavors.

For dinner, there is Course A (¥4,620 tax included), which includes three types of Nordic appetizers, soup, salad or coquille with oysters or scallops (gratin), a main dish (fish or meat), a dessert platter, and Swedish coffee or Nordic tea. There is also a course priced at ¥6,600 (tax included) featuring Norwegian herring appetizers, three kinds of salmon appetizers, a Nordic specialty called “Krefta” (three pieces) or consommé soup made with Ezo deer broth, fish and meat dishes, a dessert platter, and Swedish coffee or Nordic tea. Other options include the chef’s choice O Course (¥9,900 tax included), the weekday-only Troll Course (¥3,850 tax included), and the Full Course (¥12,100 tax included), offering a variety of menu choices to suit different tastes.

Main dishes for each course, such as sautéed cherry salmon with hollandaise sauce and Norwegian flounder meunière with sauce vin blanc, are prepared daily with changing selections. In addition, the à la carte menu is well-stocked with items like boiled Scandinavian sweet shrimp and more.

The Nordic countries are also known as beer powerhouses, and this restaurant features a selection of rare beers from the region. Among the drinks is the crisp and refreshing Norwegian craft beer “Nøgne Ø IPA” (¥1,200 tax included). In addition, there’s “Aquavit,” a traditional Nordic distilled spirit made from ingredients like potatoes that represent the region. The drink menu also offers a wide variety of Nordic spirits and wines.

Owner-chef Yaguchi says, “Sweden is rich in blessings from its forests, seas, and lakes, offering delicious and abundant ingredients. Although Swedish cuisine is still unfamiliar to many in Japan, I hope everyone will enjoy its great flavors.” Why not visit “ALLT GOTT” in Kichijoji, a restaurant where you can enjoy Nordic cuisine while feeling like you’re traveling through Scandinavia?
