Yabo Tenman-gu Shrine which is located within easy walking distance of the JR Yabo station along Koshu Kaido Road is where the academic god Sugawara Michizane is worshiped. This shrine is the oldest in the east Japan area and is called the third largest Kanto Tenjin Shrine along with Kameari Tenjin-sha Shrine and Yushima Tenman-gu Shrine. It is also the destination of Japan’s first driving tour, making it popular as a shrine of school success fulfillment and traffic safety prayers.
