Appearing near Okutama Station on weekends Preserving wasabi culture — 「Wasabi Shokudo」

Have you heard of the food truck 「Wasabi Shokudo」 that pops up around Okutama Station on weekends? Its signature dish, 「Wasabi-don」, has been gaining attention for its delicious flavor. The operation is run by two brothers, known as the 「Wasabi Brothers」, who jumped into the world of wasabi cultivation in 2020 with the desire to preserve and carry on the traditional wasabi farming practices that date back to the Edo period.

They began by apprenticing themselves to wasabi farmers and, in the same year, founded an organization called 「TOKYO WASABI」. Today, they work in the wasabi fields on weekdays and also offer a 「Wasabi Experience Tour」 limited to one group per day. In addition, they operate a 「BBQ Space」 near Mitake Station, also limited to one group per day. If you are visiting Okutama on the weekend, be sure to give it a try — you are sure to get hooked.
