Enjoy authentic soba in a traditional house built in the mid-Edo period 「Soba・Udon Tanzaburo」
About a 10-minute walk from JR Ome Line 「Kori Station」, in the area known as Tanzaburo, this soba and udon specialty restaurant is housed in a renovated traditional home originally built in the mid-Edo period. A large gate with a thatched roof marks the entrance. Inside, massive wooden beams span the ceiling, and on colder days a large wood fire is lit near the entrance. In this calm, atmospheric space, guests can enjoy fragrant hand-made soba and udon made with Hokkaido-grown buckwheat flour while taking in views of Okutama’s natural surroundings.
In addition to classic seiro soba, the menu includes soba-gaki, tempura, river fish dishes, and desserts such as soba zenzai, soba ice cream, and soba mochi. With advance reservations, guests can enjoy the 「Soba Zen」 course, which includes mountain vinegar, appetizers, fried river fish, soba-gaki, tempura, and soba sweets. There is also the more elaborate 「Relaxed Soba Zen」, featuring additional steamed dishes, grilled items, and clear soup. It is a restaurant that deepens the sense of travel and atmosphere unique to Okutama.
