Enjoy Okutama’s local specialties Arasawaya Ryokan 1F 「Robata Akabeko」
Located just a five-minute walk from JR Ome Line 「Okutama Station」, 「Robata Akabeko」 is a must-visit restaurant on the first floor of Arasawaya Ryokan, a long-established inn with over 100 years of history, known as a 「folktale inn」.
Here you can savor Okutama specialties such as sashimi of Okutama yamame trout, charcoal-grilled dishes, handmade soy milk sesame tofu, a small hot pot of abalone mushrooms, and seasonal appetizers, paired with local sake from Sawanoi, including 「Junmai Ginjo Soten」. Seating includes table seating for up to ten guests, extending from the entrance into the earthen-floor space, as well as a counter with seating for up to seven, where you can watch the chef at work right in front of you.
Lunch is also available, with last orders from 11:30 to 13:30. In addition, Arasawaya Ryokan features baths using water from
「Tsuru no Yu Onsen」, drawn up from the lakebed of Lake Okutama, and offers a day-use bathing plan. Of course, staying overnight is also highly recommended. This is truly a renowned spot you will want to visit whenever you come to Okutama.
