Ikunos in Fuchu City

Experience traditional Sardinian cuisine and local wines from Italy while seated at the counter.

Located near Okunitama Jinja Shrine, Ikunos is a restaurant where you can enjoy the cuisine and wines of Sardinia, a resort destination favored by European celebrities, while seated at the counter. In the 10-tatami mat (approximately 16 square meters) space with 8 counter seats, you can savor traditional Italian dishes while conversing with the owner-chef.

Sardinia is a popular tourist destination in Europe. The port town of Alghero in northwestern Sardinia is famous for its lobster dishes, and during the island’s festivals, ‘porchetta,’ a roast suckling pig, is a specialty. This dish, made from pork belly rolled and roasted until the skin is crispy and fragrant with herbs, is a truly delicious treat. Owner-chef Kosuke Asami trained for three years at the renowned restaurant ‘Al Tuguri’ in Alghero. The restaurant’s name is an old term for Sardinia.

Recreating authentic local flavors with fresh ingredients sourced from the morning market!

The menu features daily-changing à la carte dishes made from fish, meat, vegetables, and cheese, all freshly sourced each morning from the Higashikurume wholesale market. As it operates in a ‘one-man style,’ the chef personally explains and serves each dish.

It’s best to consult with the chef about the wine; he will recommend the perfect wine to complement that day’s dishes. With the restaurant opening at 3 PM, you can enjoy dinner even at an earlier hour. After your meal, you can indulge in desserts and espresso, or savor unique Italian digestifs such as ‘Sweet Vermouth’ or ‘Mirto,’ a digestif made from berries native to Sardinia and Corsica. Chef Asami also welcomes solo diners, offering to adjust the portion sizes to suit individual preferences. ‘Feel free to come by,’ he says.

The tangy and slightly bitter flavor of lemon, combined with the refreshing notes of rosemary and other herbs, is perfect for after a meal. Enjoy the lingering taste of your meal with a slightly unusual Vermouth Bianco.
